Aseptic technique is mandatory to prevent local tissue irritation and infection during intramuscular (IM) administration.

Standard Sterile Protocol:

  1. Thoroughly sanitize hands and wipe the rubber vial stopper with a fresh alcohol prep pad.
  2. Draw the oil using a sterile draw needle (e.g., 21G–23G), then switch to an injection needle (e.g., 25G 1-inch).
  3. Select the anatomical site (dorsogluteal, ventrogluteal, or deltoid) and swab the target area thoroughly.
  4. Inject slowly and steadily into the muscle belly, maintain steady pressure, and apply a clean gauze pad upon withdrawal.
